Thread regarding Costco (COST) stock

Is every retailer in trouble now?

Costco just posted a 13% jump in September sales, but once you strip out gas price inflation, the real growth is closer to 7.6%. The gas is doing a lot of heavy lifting, and gas margins are thinner than the rest of the business anyway. So the question isn't really whether Costco is struggling. It's whether people are actually spending or just paying more for the same stuff. If the rest of retail is getting taken apart while Costco still posts numbers like this, maybe the problem is elsewhere. Is every retailer in trouble now, or is this just a Costco thing?
