Thread regarding General Motors (GM) stock

No idea if this we-pons thing is good or bad

GM just reported earnings and the stock popped. They beat expectations, raised their outlook, truck sales are fine. Then I read that the Trump administration asked GM and Ford about switching some production to help make we-pons and munitions. Pentagon officials talked to Mary Barra directly. It sounds like something out of World War II, back when Detroit turned into the "Arsenal of Democracy."

Is this good or bad? Does it mean steady government contracts, or does it just distract them from making cars people want? The stock is up big over the past year but has been drifting sideways lately. I cannot figure out if this we-pons talk is a real opportunity or if it will turn into a big distraction from the core business.
